Mother Seton Honors Veterans

The Parents’ Guild of Mother Seton High School is dedicated to pairing all their activities with a community outreach embedding the school’s mission statement of personal growth and service to others nurturing a richly, diverse community.  The annual Pocket Book Bingo, a very successful fundraiser, added a request for participants and students to literally thank New Jersey Veterans for their service.

The Department of Veterans Affairs New Jersey Health Care System is an integrated system and the East Orange Campus provides a full range of patient care services, with state-of-the art technology as well as education and research.  While the Lyons campus provides long-term care, a palliative care unit, and a variety of mental health services from out-patient to resident.
Mrs. Lynn Mikolay, President of the Parents’ Guild coordinated along with Sonia Kelley and Denise Cracchiolo of the Veterans Administration Voluntary Service Department, to identify the needs of the veterans.  The students and Bingo Players donated toiletries, sweat pants and shirts, socks, undergarments, hats, and gloves.
The students and representatives of the Parents’ Guild delivered the gifts to the Lyons VA Hospital on November 3, 2016.
